Neuropsychology, Neuropharmacology and Neurochemistry

Neuropharmacology is the study of how drugs influence cellular function in the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms through which they impact behavior. There are two primary branches of neuropharmacology: behavioral and molecular. Behavioral neuropharmacology concentrates on the study of how drugs influence human behavior (neuropsychopharmacology), including the study of how drug dependence and addiction influence the human brain. Molecular neuropharmacology includes the study of neurons and their neurochemical interactions, with the general objective of developing drugs that have beneficial effects on neurological function. Both of these fields are firmly associated, since both are concerned about the collaborations of neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, neurohormones, neuromodulators, enzymes, second messengers, co-transporters, ion channels, and receptor proteins in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Studying these associations; specialists are creating medications to treat a wide range of neurological disorders, including pain, neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, psychological disorders, addiction, and numerous others. Neuropharmacology is an exceptionally expansive region of science that envelops numerous parts of the nervous system from single neuron control to whole regions of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.

Neurochemistry is the study of neurochemicals, including neurotransmitters and different atoms, for example, psychopharmaceuticals and neuropeptides that impact the function of neurons. This field within neuroscience analyzes how neurochemicals impact the operation of neurons, neurotransmitters, and neural systems. Neurochemists investigate the biochemistry and molecular biology of organic compounds in the nervous system, and their parts in such neural procedures as cortical plasticity, neurogenesis, and neural differentiation.
